Mario Picosso is a young artist born in Malaga, Spain, with enormous progression and talent, who currently lives between Amsterdam and Barcelona, where he has become part of the techno scene with a defined and characteristic sound.
In 2015 his passion for mixing music began, since then he has performed sets and organized events in clubs such as Agora Club, Astra – Space Travel, Moog, Siroco, Rezonanz, The Garage of The Bass Valley, or Razzmatazz in Barcelona, the Canary Islands, Madrid, Valencia, LAB -1 in Eindhoven or Gothenburg.
He is co-founder of the Structured and Donations collective, with which he has presented different events in Barcelona and other places in the Spanishpeninsula and Europe, bringing international and national artists and collaborating with other collectives or record labels.
The work and effort of the members of this Collective have made possible the birth of a record label «Structured Records» launching its first reference in 2019 under the name of «Matter and Mind», by the artist Irrational Language.
His sessions are characterized by industrial, broken, and dynamic sounds, with a clear progression, adding great mixing skills and a handcrafted selection of tracks.
I have had the pleasure of interviewing you and today I share with you the questions that I have asked him:
What are your origins in electronic music?
My first contacts with electronic music were at raves and breakbeat parties in southern Andalusia.
With what style or styles define your sound?
Techno, electro, EBM, Hip-Hop, Breakbeat, IDM …
What is your favorite track?
I can’t tell you one in particular, but the theme of Charlie – Spacer Woman is one of my favorites
Who are your reference producers?
Adam X, RZA, Surgeon, Dr. Dre, Regis, Irrational Language, The Neptunes, Aphex Twin, Reeko, Drexciya, Boards of Canada, Nils Fram, etc.
What is your favorite club?
Any club where there is a good atmosphere and decent sound
What has been the event where you have most enjoyed DJing?
I couldn’t tell you one in particular, but the first time I played at MOOG in Barcelona it was very special for me.
What are your projects?
Keep working with my collective, making new releases and keep developing projects within the audiovisual arts.
